If you don't have an olive, chino-material short skirt in your wardrobe, you simply must acquire one.

If you don't do skirts {although I think you should reconsider}, get a pair of olive cargo capris.

The military-esque jacket is also an important staple.

And helloooo, pretty boots. Not necessarily a staple, but such fun!

You should definitely have a very simple, short-ish dress in your wardrobe for spring.

Something you can wear with sandals or heels ... sexy, chic, and super easy.

This one is lovely...

...but not everyone can wear stripes.

It would be just as cute if it was solid, or boasted a more subtle print.

Pants are just not a trend this spring.

You might be able to pull off a pair of cargos, and denim is always appropriate but dresses and skirts have edged out trousers as springs desired wardrobe essential.

And yellow ...

you simply must find a shade of yellow that works for you because everyone will be wearing it.

Stripes are a definite trend for spring.

I'm enjoying this take on the theme - in short dress format paired with a masculine blazer.

Cute, no?

While it's true that everyone can wear stripes - everyone cannot wear them in the same way.
If you're not interested in drawing attention to your torso {for example}, rock the trend in a different format!
Invest in a striped clutch or handbag, scarf or flats.

The "it" jacket for spring is an army-ish/cargo-ish/anorak.

This is J.Crew's version ...

And this is the army shirt Laura found resale and repurposed as a jacket.

Genius!

It looks exactly like the much more expensive Shopbop version she mentions on her blog.

I found a Cabi jacket in this style in the shop last week and snatched it up immediately. Actually, you saw it in this post on layering.

Keep your eyes open for this style, ladies! You'll want it in your spring wardrobe.

It's been awhile since I've honestly been *excited* about spring fashion.

Actually, it's possible I've never been very excited about spring styles - fall is more my thing.

But - I'm loving the fashion forecast for spring just about everywhere right now!

Especially the collection from Elizabeth and James ...

I have a serious crush on Noa Noa's outlook for spring.

What I love most is the silhouette we've worked so hard to perfect over the fall and winter {layers & belts} will transition fabulously into spring.

Fabrics will change {switch out your wool for chiffon}, and you should inject some color into your wardrobe, but everything will still retain that tailored look.

Think: Boho Chic.

And scarves! They'll be even more important this spring/summer than they were last season, so make sure to keep your eyes open for long, gauzy scarves in brights and pastels.
